Father's Day and The Broad in DTLA

Today, we woke up early to save our spots in line for the Infinity Room. First things first is getting food to eat. Parking in DTLA was cheap and easy to find on a Sunday morning.

DTLA - Blue Bottle Coffee

A good cup of coffee is not necessary for me in the morning... But I needed a pick me up. The coffee was good, I mean, it tasted like coffee. The ambience, though, was beautiful!

Grand Central Market - Eggslut

This place is pretty much known for their eggslut, which is a poached egg on potatoes that you mix together. We got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich and Fairfax Sandwich with added Bacon. Both were pretty good, it's a weird thing to say since eggs are relatively easy to cook... But they a do a good job cooking their eggs. The brioche bread was soft and delicious, and the flavors in both sandwiches are things I love. Except sriracha mayo. I don't like that.

Just so we're clear, I really hate breakfast sandwiches. If you don't like TMI, skip ahead. They're often oily and give me the runs. No joke, I actively don't eat breakfast because I can recall many a time where it has wrecked me. This is important because I ate and enjoyed all of the food here, and didn't need to use the bathroom right away.

DTLA - The Infinity Room (part 1)

We walked from Grand Central Market to The Broad. This museum hosts the Infinity Mirrored Room by Yayoi Kusuma. Kusuma is an interesting artist whose life's work revolves around repetition and patterns. I definitely recommend the below video if you wanna know a bit more about her.

To get in, you have to stand out in line, and probably . You can reserve admission tickets for the museum online, but you're only allowed to enter at the time that the ticket is for. It isn't for the Infinity Room at all. We reserved tickets for 130pm, but stood in-line around 930am. We waited about 1.5 hours so that we could reserve our time to see the Infinity Room. Our time was at 3pm...  We had time to kill. Obviously.

DTLA - The Broad

The Broad neighbors the Disney Music Concert Hall and is the home to a ton of contemporary art. Many of the subjects in the museum are equal parts beautiful and unsettling. It's cool because they do have some Roy Lichenstein and Andy Warhol stuff. They also have a lot of art that also has art that's politically charged. Some people enjoy having meaning to their art... I just like looking at art because of its composition and aesthetic. Thank god there's no right way to enjoy art!

DTLA - Sugarfish

Since we had some time to kill, we met with my brother and his family for lunch. He loves Sugarfish, since he says it has good, cheap, sushi. It also comes in sets that have a bunch of variety. My niece says she likes the rice. I have to agree.

I... I didn't like it that much. The taste and texture were kind of mushy, and to be honest, a bit subpar to what I'm used to. To be fair, I pretty much have access to a lot of delicious cheap sushi... When I go to sushi places at home, they have a variety of other things to add to my sushi experience. This place was straight sushi, but I think I've had better. I feel like I got catfished. Except it was Sugarfish'd.

DTLA - Bottega Louie

If you watch BuzzFeed's Worth It videos, you might have heard of this place because of its cakes. I, however, love their macarons. They're better than Laduree in NYC. I would fight anyone about that. The textures and flavors are way better. That being said, we came here because I wanted their earl grey macarons: the best flavor there. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

DTLA - The Infinity Room (part 2)

Once our time was near, we headed over to The Broad again. You stand in a mini-line to get to the Infinity Room. Then you have 45 seconds in there. I was supposed to record what it looked like in there... And I dun goofed.

Yeah. I thought I was recording the room, and I was not. Lol. Dummy me. Anyway, Tam got good photos on his camera. I think. We'll see when he gets around to editing them. C'est la vie.

DTLA - Bradbury Building

Tam loves this building so we checked it out. It also has one, if not, the only mechanical elevators left. I think they used this building in 500 Days of Summer, something he mentioned when we were in there.

Hollywood - Hollywood Bowl Overlook

We spent some time up here watching the sun set and doing a timelapse. Parking here is tough, so you probably should go a little early and hope that the parking gods are on your side.

West Hollywood - Shake Shack

I love Shake Shack. I want to make that very clear. But the one in Los Angeles was disappointing. The char wasn't quite the same, and the meat didn't have the sweet crunch of a standard Shake Shack burger. Would not do again. Their fries, however, are better than In-N-Out's any day!

West Hollywood - Milk

To redeem our disappointing experience at Shake Shack, we went to my personal favorite: Milk! It's not related to Milk Bar in NYC at all, and they have a ton of different desserts outside of cookies and cereal ice cream.

Their ice cream macarons are some of the best I've had, and today I picked Fruity Pebbles. Tam opted for their cookies and enjoyed them as well.

Our day was adventurous and we headed home to pack!
